When Can I register?

Any time that the surgery is open!

Most Students register around the start of the autumn term - the practice is specially set up to cope with the large numbers of people joining us  for the 1st week of term: please try and register then.

Please don't wait until you have an urgent problem!

Overseas visitor

If you (and your family) are staying in the UK for more than 3 months then you will generally be entitled to NHS care and can register - we will need to check your visa and student status so please bring appropriate documentation.

Register

Registering is simple and involves completing a short form for the Health Authority.

It helps us if you know the details of your existing GP and your NHS number - and seeing the practice nurse for a brief health check, if you have a chronic condition such as asthma.It can take several weeks for your notes to arrive from your home Doctor, so please bring any relevant information with you.

 

Temporary Resident

We welcome short term visitors who have a medical problem needing urgent treatment to see us on a "temporary resident" basis. This does not cover routine monitoring of existing conditions.

 Unfortunately we cannot offer this service for students who are in Birmingham for more than 1 month or on full-time courses - the Department of Health recommends that students register where they are resident for the majority of the year.

Some overseas visitors may be offered private care
