The Freedom of Information Act 2000 recognises that members of the public have the right to know how public services are organised and run, how much they cost and how decisions are made. It obliges us to respond to requests about information that we hold, in any format, within 20 working days; it creates a right of access to many but not all items of information. These rights are subject to some exemptions, which have to be taken into consideration before deciding what information will be released. The main reasons to decline release of information are the protection of commercial interests and personal information and this applies to all Classes within the Publication Scheme. Data that is only available in a raw form and needs manual or computer searches to identify may also not be available.
Under the Data Protection Act 1988, you are also entitled to access your clinical records and any other personal information held about you - to do this you need to contact the Practice Manager and make an appointment to visit the practice. You cannot ask for individual information on another person. |
